Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra security step when you sign in. After entering your password, you’ll also verify using a one‑time code and/or SMS.

What is MFA?

Multi‑Factor Authentication (sometimes called “two‑factor authentication” or 2FA) helps protect your account from unauthorized access. Even if someone learns your password, they won’t be able to sign in without your second verification step.

How MFA works in the Clearco Customer Portal

When MFA is enabled for your account:

  • You’ll still sign in with your email and password.

  • You’ll then complete a second step using a verification method you’ve set up.

MFA is enabled per user account (not automatically for all users on a business).

MFA methods we support:

Depending on what’s available in your account settings, you may be able to use one or more of the following:

  • SMS (text message) one‑time codes

  • Authenticator app one‑time codes (time‑based)

Enable MFA

  • Sign in to the Clearco Customer Portal.

  • Go to Account Settings

  • Select Set up next to the factor you would like to set up.

  • Click Activate and Sign Out.

    • You will be signed out as part of enabling MFA.

  • Sign in again and follow the steps to set up your MFA method

  • For SMS, enter phone number.

  • Once you receive the 6-digit code via SMS, enter the digits, as shown below.

    • Note: If you did not receive a text message, click Resend.

  • Click Continue, and you will be directed to the Clearco Dashboard.

    • Note: During setup, you may be shown a recovery code. Store it somewhere safe (for example, a secure password manager). Store it on another device, other than the same device you use to receive codes.

Sign in with MFA

After MFA is enabled:

  1. Enter your email and password as usual.

  2. When prompted, enter the verification code from your chosen method.

If you don’t receive an SMS code

Try the following:

  • Wait a few minutes and request a new code.

  • Confirm your phone has service and can receive text messages.

  • If you’re traveling, check that your phone plan supports receiving SMS in your current region.

Can I disable MFA?

For security reasons, you may not be able to disable MFA from the customer portal after it’s enabled. If you need MFA disabled for account recovery, contact our Technical Support team at support@clear.co.

Need help?

  • A brief description of what you’re seeing (error message, where you’re stuck)

  • Whether you’re using SMS or an authenticator app.

Contact Technical Support if:

  • If you changed phones or lost access to your MFA method, contact Support so we can help you recover access.

  • If you don’t have access to your MFA method (and you can’t sign in), contact Support so we can help you recover access.

    • Note: If you still have a recovery code, use it to sign in when prompted.
